Van Cleef & Arpel – Poetic Complication Five Weeks In a Balloon Watch
The French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels is going to release a new timepiece of its Les Voyages Extraordinaries collection at SIHH 2011 (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie). The new watch is named the Poetic Complication Five weeks in a Balloon, inspired by the world famous fiction author Jules Verne and his Extraordinary Voyages novel of the same name.
The dial of this watch is decorated with champleve enamel and inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The fascia depicts a hot air ballon taking flight into the air of Zanzibar. The hours and minutes are indicated by the retograde movement of the balloon’s anchor and a bird in flight. It is not clear, which kind of movement they used, but it probably is a Jaeger LeCoultre retrograde caliber, identical to the one that powers their earlier Poetic Complication Le Pont des Amourex watch officially presented in January at SIHH 2010.
The precious Van Cleef & Arpels Poetic Complication, Five weeks in a Balloon Watch is created for those watch-lovers who will appreciate the brand’s original and highly creative approach to High Watchmaking.
