In cooperation with precious metals dealer Rosland Capital, Formula 1 offered on the market a special gold coin. This coin is made of 24-carat gold and it weighs one kilogram. The price? Well, you really have to be a F1 fanatic to pay $40,000 for it. Only 15 of the coins will be made available, with one of them being showcased at this weekend’s British Grand Prix. Smaller coins, not in gold but also silver have also been released which cost less than $1,000.
Rosland Capital CEO Marin Aleksov said: “We started selling these in the USA about three weeks ago, and there has been a fantastic response – they feel like they are buying a share in F1”.
“Gold is like F1, it’s sexy. I think gold and racing has a lot in common.”
Despite its price of $40,000, four 1kg gold coins have already been sold, and Rosland Capital are confident that it will soon sell a series.
