One fisherman from Philippines is happy as a clam after discovering that a giant pearl, probably the biggest ever found in the world he stashed away for 10 years under his bed is worth a cool $100 million. The man, from Puerto Princesa, on Palawan Island, who has not been identified, discovered the 75-pound (34kg) pearl more than a decade ago while out fishing. His boat’s anchor caught on the giant clam and he had to swim down to dislodge it.

Unaware of the giant pearl’s value, he kept it as a good-luck piece under his bed until a fire in his home forced him to move. The superstitious fishermen then entrusted the 1 foot wide and 2.2 feet long gem to his aunt, Aileen Cynthia Maggay-Amurao, who works in local government as a tourism officer.
“That’s why he brought it to me, since it’s quite heavy,” she told the Guardian.
With his permission, she offered the pearl to the mayor, Lucilo R Bayon, to serve as new tourist attraction of city. It is now on display in the atrium of the New Green City Hall in Puerto Princesa.
Maggay-Amurao told that she was now seeking help from experts to certify the pearl’s authenticity.
The priceless rock exceeded the official current record holder — the $35 million, 14-pound Pearl of Allah, which in 1934 was also found off Palawan.
