After two-year, eight-million-dollar renovation Wempe reopened their Fifth Avenue store. Magnificent 5,500 square feet space is twice the size of the original and showcases an astounding 2,500 timepieces.
The new interior concept was motivated by the desire to provide more space and comfort for customers, a larger service area, and room for additional watches. Fine materials such as granite from the quarries around Verona have been used for the renovation. The ceilings have been raised, and many of the numerous display cases and presentation areas are now directly accessible to customers.
The sales area has eight display windows, up from seven, and the facade now takes up half of the block. Not to mention there are large integrated salons from Patek Philippe and Rolex on opposite ends of the store.
The vast assortment of watches spans more than 20 brands, such as Audemars Piguet, A. Lange & Sohne, Baume & Mercier, Breitling, Breguet, Cartier, Chopard, Frederique Constant, Gucci, Glashutte Original, Hublot, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Junghans, Longines, Montblanc Muhle-Glashutte, Nomos Glashutte, Panerai, Rado, Roger Dubuis, TAG Heuer, Tissot, Tudor, Ulysse Nardin, Vacheron Constantin, and Wempe Glashutte.
Also, under this roof, customers will found the 5th Avenue Limited Edition Wempe Zeitmeister, which was designed specifically for the renovation. The stainless-steel chronometer features a striking red second hand and number 5 on the date display—symbolizing Wempe’s signature color and a declaration of love. The timepiece is also engraved on the back with Wempe’s New York building, and each is numbered. Fifty-five examples will be produced with a black face and 55 with a silver face.
