London’s Wellesley Hotel is celebrating a truly Great British leader, Sir Winston Churchill, with limited edition afternoon tea. The tea includes hand crafted tiramisu bowler hats, chocolate cigars, and a bespoke tea blend, in a nod to the late British Prime Minister. With a huge portrait overlooking the hotel’s Cigar Lounge, and a suite in The Penthouse named after him, Winston Churchill has a strong presence in The Wellesley.
The Churchill Afternoon Tea further illustrates the hotel’s adoration for the British icon whose face now features on the newly-released £5 bank notes.
Alongside a selection of finger sandwiches, the menu showcases filo pastry cannoli cigars with dark chocolate mousse; an indulgent cheesecake tartelette and mandarin dome; bowler-hat shaped tiramisu cups; and rum and coffee lollypops. The bespoke Churchill Blend tea, enriched with almonds and pieces of Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar, completes the experience.
The Churchill Afternoon Tea is served daily from 2pm to 6pm, and is available now for £35, or £50 with a glass of Brut Champagne, or £55 with a glass of Rose Champagne.
Those booking the Churchill Champagne Afternoon Tea through The Wellesley’s website between 1 to 30 November 2016, will be entered into a competition to win dinner for two in the Jazz Lounge.
