How much this car is rare, perhaps is best proved by the fact that Porsche made 292 road copies of the model 959, but only 29 of them in the title carried a supplement Sport. One of 29 made Porsche 959 Sport will be offered on February 8 at the auction which will be held by RM Sotheby’s in Paris. The car was manufactured in 1988 and is in excellent condition, which is best evidenced by the photos.
It has less than 12,000 kilometers on its odometer, and according to initial estimates, the new owner will have to pay close to two million euros for it.
Porsche 959 Sport is 100 kilograms lighter than the standard model 959, which in those years represented the absolute top engineering when it comes to supercars. It is powered by a 2.8-liter 6-cylinder biturbo engine with boxer configuration, which has slightly more than 520 horsepower, and a transfer of power to both axles is carried out via a manual transmission with six gears.
From 0 to 100 km/h, the car comes after a little more than three seconds and develops 339 km/h, which was once managed by journalists from the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport on Italy’s Nardo test track. It is clear why almost 30 years later, there are not many cars that can hold Porsche 959 Sport behind.
