At the prestigious exhibition of oldtimers in Pebble Beach is rated a maximum of 100 points. It will soon be offered for sale at auction and is estimated to fetch between €6.5 and €8 million ($6,91 and 8,5 million). Mercedes-Benz 680 S Torpedo Roadster from 1928 was named for 2012, Best classic car at the oldtimers event, which every year is traditionally held in Pebble Beach, California.
It is one of only three special specimens in whose production involved manufacturer of body trucks Saoutchik, and is considered to be the sole survivor of these three cars.
The first owner was a wealthy oilman who bought this vehicle at the New York Motor Show back in 1929, and for the next 75 years remained in the family.
After that, it was sold to one collector of oldtimers who performed the complete restoration of the car to bring it in perfect condition, as can be seen in the photographs.
Mercedes-Benz 680 S Torpedo Roadster will be offered for sale at auction by RM Sotheby’s to be held in May, and the estimated value makes it one of the most expensive oldtimers that will appear in 2017 on sales auctions.
