South Korean barista Lee Kang-bin is taking coffee art to the next level, creating miniature imitations of famous paintings on foamy cups of java at his central Seoul cafe. He has recreated world-renowned paintings, including Vincent van Gogh’s ‘The Starry Night’ and Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’, using coloured cream and tiny brush strokes.
“The customer gives us no reason to not doing your best,” Kang-bin wrote on his Instagram.
Disney favourites Bambi, Snow White and Winnie the Pooh also feature alongside startlingly realistic versions of Edgar Degas’s dancers and Leonardo DiCaprio portraits.
“One time I drew ‘The Starry Night’ and it looked so special as the famous painting placed on top of coffee. After that, lots of people ordered that coffee,” said Kang-bin.
The delicate artistry takes him 15 minutes to complete and the coffees are sold for 10,000 won ($8.71) cup that has won Lee thousands of fans at his cafe and online.
