Colorado-based hi-fi brand Grand Prix Audio (GPA) showcased its newest direct drive turntable – Parabolica at the just ended Los Angeles Audio Show 2017. Using the encoder disc from the famed Monaco 2.0 the Parabolica is able to achieve speed stability far beyond anything in its price range. Its distinctive carbon fiber exterior speaks directly to the racecar motif embraced by Grand Prix Audio, who borrows manufacturing materials and practices often used in the creation of supercars to design its high-performance turntables.

In fact, the even the turntable’s name comes from that of a particularly challenging turn at the famed Monza racetrack.
Grand Prix Audio’s patented speed control system and noise reduction techniques allows the Parabolica to confidently step into the arena with tables much higher in price. Much like the Parabolica’s predecessor – Monaco 2.0, the ultrasonic speed measurement system functions far outside the realm of any playback frequency An active feedback loop maintains platter speed by interrogating the platter motion with actual measurements taken nearly 150,000 times per revolution.
