McLaren MP4-12C
Just as you’d expect, one of the hottest supercars to show up in a while, the McLaren MP4-12C, is going to come at a pretty penny- $229,000. McLaren said that it will build up to 1,000 12Cs in the car’s first full year with production to increase down the line.
Naturally, $229k doesn’t include the extras. The 12C can be specified with a wide range of personalisation options, pricing for which will be confirmed at launch. There are 17 high-grade exterior paint finishes, including a tribute to the orange hue of early McLaren racing cars. Inside, there will be a choice of 14 interior trims. Performance upgrades include a sports exhaust, carbon ceramic brake discs, polished brake calipers and two lightweight forged wheel options. Carbon-fibre options will include mirror casings, engine bay panels and engine cover.
The McLaren MP4-12C is more powerful and lighter and more efficient when compared to rivals like the new Ferrari 458 Italia or the Mercedes SLS AMG and it’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre 90 degree V8 produces 592 BHP and 442 lb-ft of torque. The McLaren MP4-12C can reach 124 mph (200 Km/h) from a standstill in 10.0 seconds and then brake back to zero in less than 5.0 seconds, while CO2 emissions are less than 300 grams per Km. Overall weight for the McLaren MP4-12C is 1300 Kg and responsible for ending power to the wheels is a twin-clutch 7-speed F1 styled gearbox.

The British brand says the 12C will be the first in a range of high-performance sports cars by McLaren which will be sold and serviced through a network of 35 retailers worldwide (10 of those are based in key North American markets). Expect ordering details to be released soon, but if you haven’t put your name on the waiting list already, we suspect you might have a tough time getting your hands on one before 2013.
A £40m manufacturing plant, the McLaren Production Centre (MPC), is currently under construction and will be fully operational by the middle of 2011. It is scheduled to produce a future range of about 4,000 McLaren sports cars.
