Young Chinese paid 9,999 Swiss francs (US$10,000, €8,733) last week at a Swiss hotel for a glass of whisky.
According to the owner of the hotel Sandro Bernasconi, the young Chinese ordered the whiskey by the Scottish maker Macallan, produced in 1878.
He said that he did not expect anyone to order that kind of whiskey, but, however, the young Chinese expressed a desire to drink just Macallan whiskey from 1878, although at the bar offered 47 different whiskeys of that producer, for which you need to pay from seven to 1,000 francs a glass.

Bernasconi said he told the customer that the most expensive Macallan whiskey was not for sale, but the young Chinese insisted that he drink it, so the hotel owner called his father, who told him to serve a drink, although the customer did not want to pay in advance.
But everything went fine and now when the bottle is open, the hotel hopes to be able to sell the remaining whiskey from the bottle, and is also considering reducing the price.
The hotel’s Devil’s Place Whisky Bar has been honoured for its 2,500 bottle collection, including by the Guinness Book of World Records.
