The Kayabukiya tavern in Japan, has become a worldwide attraction for unusual waiters who will serve you at this restaurant. It’s about monkeys, who are its employees for 29 years. Tourists from all over the world come to this “sake house” in northern Tokyo to serve them two popular and unusual waiters. They are named Yat-chan and Fuku-chan, and are a pair of Japanese macaque monkeys and the only tip they receive are soy beans.

Instead of money, in this restaurant, waiters are paid in bananas, and there are monkeys who will simply pose with you to earn their salary. Tavern owner Kaoru Otsuka,considers that they are his family and consider his restaurant a family business.
“They are closer to my family, I spend all day with them, even sleeping with me. Once I started to take care about them, I just had to continue.”

Otsuka originally kept the monkeys as household pets – but when the older one started aping him he realised they were capable of working in the restaurant.
“Yat-chan first learned by just watching me working in the restaurant,” he said.
“It all started when one day I gave him a hot towel out of curiosity and he brought the towel to the customer.”
And customers are impressed that this monkeys understands their orders.
