The Danish-Swiss brand Urban Jürgensen unveils special edition timepiece called Alfred, in celebration of their new Atelier.
Named in tribute to Jacques Alfred Jürgensen, the last watchmaker of the Jurgensen family, the new Alfred model created by the haute horlogerie brand combines the excellence of watchmaking craftsmanship respectful of centuries-old traditions with a nice contemporary touch.

The watch has a contemporary 42mm stainless steel case with each lug individually forget and soldered on the case. The steel of the case is beautifully matched to a precious “grenage” dial, a traditional, time-consuming technique that aims at obtaining a silvery, frosted surface with remarkable depth and granularity.
The dial is a disc of solid silver that’s frosted by hand, with all of the markings engraved and then filled with black lacquer.

The hand-made hands are made of blued steel, with a polished steel, ring-shaped insert on the hour hand. The hands manufacturing requires 50 steps and more than a day of manual work including mirror polishing and bluing by thermal processes.
Most notable is the in-house P4 movement inside. The hand wound movement is well decorated, the sun-ray Cotes du Genève in the centre point to the 3Hz balance wheel. The wheel is visible through the skeletonised bridge. The bevelling of the constituent elements is superbly executed. The decorations are exceptional, pleasing any critical eye.

The Alfred watch has a power reserve of 72 hours, thanks to the twin barrel design.
The Alfred is available direct from Urban Jurgensen, priced at €14,300 before taxes. The interested collectors will be hosted by the company’s CEO, Soren Jenry Petersen. He will introduce the buyers to the watchmakers and personally hand over the finished watches.
