Two months ahead of the SIHH 2018, Cartier presents the new Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Day & Night Watch.
The dial has a radiating guilloché section in the center and sunburst finish on the rich brown ground that circles the outside. All of this is punctuated by a lone bright blued steel hand that shows the minutes on a retrograde display along the bottom half of the dial, a complication inspired by their 1912 Comet Clock. It also gives a distinct contrast between the classical Roman numerals and the contemporary Arabic 0-60.

Top half of the dial is where the mystery and Day & Night features are placed. The mystery display uses a pair of indicators, one depicting the sun and one depicting the moon, to show the slow movement of the day and night along a 12-hour scale and appear to be floating without being connected to the center.
The watch comes on a grey alligator strap with 18K pink gold folding clasp, and is powered by the manual wound in-house calibre 9982 MC composed of 174 parts and 26 jewels and which provides a power reserve of 48 hours when fully wound. The Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Day & Night is not a limited edition watch and is also available in 18K white gold. It is priced at $63,000 and will be available for sale next year.
