The British mining company Gem Diamonds announced that it had recently dug up a 910-carat diamond in Lesotho, which is already considered one of the five largest discovered diamonds.
Diamond, dug out of a very fertile Letseng mine, ould be worth up to $40 million, said analyst Ben Davies from investment company Liberium Capital.

“Since Gem Diamonds acquired Letseng in 2006, the mine has produced some of the world’s most remarkable diamonds, including the 603-carat ‘Lesotho Promise,'” Gem Diamonds chief executive Clifford Elphick said in a statement.

According to him, the diamond is of exceptional purity and so far the largest diamond is dug out of the mine in Lesotho, an African country that is one of the poorest in the world.
The biggest diamond discovered is the 3,106-carat Cullinan, found near Pretoria, in South Africa, in 1905.
