King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley is known for his Cadillacs, and some shared as the gift, but he also enjoyed Mercedes. His Mercedes-Benz 280SEL is now offered for sale.
Presley’s Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL was produced in 1971, it is in perfect condition, and is on sale in Missouri for $139,900. The car has all the paperwork, which is also proof that Presley was the first owner.
The legendary singer bought his Mercedes for $ 8,764, a value equivalent to $ 54,828 today.
The car also has an optional air conditioner that makes the heat in Tennessee more bearable, including electric glass windows and Becker Europa stereo. It was lacquered in a dark red color, but Elvis wanted it to change so he decided to use the Alpha Crystal metallic blue.
The SEL model had a longer wheelbase than the smaller SE model and was relatively rare. Mercedes produced a total of 8,350 copies of the 280SEL model and 91,051 copies of the 280SE model.
Elvis’ car is powered by a 2.8-liter, six-cylinder, fuel-injection engine that delivers 158 hp and is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.
The car passed 80,312 miles (129,250 km), and after Presley’s death it was exhibited in a museum in Tennessee, where was until 2016.
Now, the car is looking for a new owner, and the price is $139,900.
