Prestigious British designer, Ron Arad used 10 silestone quartz surfacing slabs to create the ping pong table curved in all directions. Arad came up with the idea for this ping pong table when he visited Cosentino’s plant, where he was fascinated by the production of dekton and silestone. That led him to think what else can we do with this magical material? The result is innovative ping pong table, called 10 Layers.
“I’ve done a ping pong table made of stainless steel and bronze, not a flat one, but one with a curved belly in its length. The idea was to slow the game down and make the rallies longer.
The layered stone and the CNC milling allows us to make it curved in all directions, ie. a huge concave surface (convex in its underbelly) made of 10 different coloured layers. When you machine away the surfaces, the flat layers become perfect circles in sharp, contrasting colours.”
10 Silestone slabs out of four different colours: Iconic White (white hue), Kensho (light grey), Cemento Spa (dark grey) and Negro Tebas (black hue) create the playground and net of this genuine and unprecedented design by Ron Arad.
This futuristic ping pong table interacts in a new way with the players.
