Announced last month with several teaser pictures, in front of us is now officially the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, the model for 2019.
The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye under the hood (which is otherwise distinguished by its striking air holes) hides a 6.2 liter V8 engine with a larger compressor, which develops 797 hp and 957 Nm of torque (fitted with an 8-speed automatic transmission).
Dodge describes this engine as the most powerful production V8 and car as the fastest production muscle car. As far as performance is concerned, the acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) lasts 3.4 seconds, the highest speed is 326 km/h, and a quarter of a mile (402 meters) exceeds 10.8 seconds.
The car has, among other things, received fenders extension, a special logo on the fenders, as well as the Torque Reserve system.
Also, for the 2019 model year, the Challenger SRT Hellcat has gotten a bit stronger engine than before (717 hp and 888 Nm, with 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission), as well as a new hood.
There’s also the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody version with fender extensions like the Challenger Hellcat, with an aluminum hood, the Pirelli tires 305/35ZR20 on the “Devil’s Rim” alloy wheels, stronger Brembo brakes and modified suspension.
Finally, there are Challenger R/T and GT RWD versions, among others, with standard high-performance support and optional performance-handling package and Houndstooth fabric on the seats.
The complete 2019 Challenger gamma will begin to be manufactured in the Autumn, and at dealers in the US it will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
The changes envisaged for the 2019 model year will probably be the latest for this generation of Challengers, which has been in production since 2008.
