Cédric Hervet and Nicolas Hervet are cousins who, in 2014, established HERVET Manufacturier to create and manufacture, under reasonable quantities, furniture and decorative objects, inimitable design, influenced by the visions of anticipation of the previous century.
Cédric’s longtime friendship with Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk has also helped shape the brand’s identity; a Formica skateboard conceived by the cousins and the electronic music duo in 2014 resembles a wooden version by Hervet Manufacturier.
Bangalter again collaborated with the cousins to photograph their atelier (the images debut here) and the completed showroom. “Thomas has an affinity for photography and for furniture, and if there’s something that interests him — voilà,” Nicolas says, “he puts his all into it.”
The retro-futuristic line photographed by Bangalter includes Passager, a steel/full-grain leather armchair that looks like a space captain’s chair circa 1965, and Audiosatt, a hi-fi system made from Dos Santos rosewood veneer that’s dubbed (accurately) as an “excellent vessel for a supersonic cruise.”
On July 9, the collection is scheduled to be shown at JF Chen (1000 North Highland Avenue in Los Angeles).
