Ring House is located on the southern shore of the Greek island of Crete in the village of Agia Galini, only 165 nautical miles from the Sahara desert.
Two concrete beams follow the topography of the hill to define the frame of the house. The ring is articulated with these concrete beams. The clients hired decaACHITECTURE to design a contemporary dwelling that embraces nature.
The ring provides the necessary shade, well ventilated interiors, surfaces for solar panels and protects the interior gardens where there are citrus trees and spice herbs.

Together, the house and its garden are designed to form a moderate microclimate, an oasis in an intensely beautiful but extremely physically demanding environment.
In the past, the topography of the place where the house was located was seriously damaged by random and informal road construction, and for this reason the material was excavated during the construction of the house, used to restore the original morphology of the land.

Moreover, a detailed study of domestic flora was carried out to understand the prevailing biotopes on different slopes on the plot.
During the spring, before the start of the construction, seeds were collected around the house, then cultivated and sown within its backyard for flora regeneration.
The white walls of the interior further illuminate the living space, referring to the traditional stone house in Greece, while the large glass windows provide a view of the sea and surrounding landscapes.

Outside areas make up the largest part of the landscape. The dining room overlooks the garden and the sea, while the large swimming pool looks like it is flowing from the terrace to sea waves or blue sky, depending on the viewing angle.
An ultra modern house is surrounded by wild and imposing cliffs, and perfectly trapped in the topography of the city, which was the primary goal of the architects.
