Le Château de Versailles
60 grand chefs are involved to take part in an international salute to the French way of dining on April 6 at Versailles, the one-time home of French kings, just outside Paris. This dinner in honor of French gastronomy marks the inclusion last November of the “Gastronomic Meal of the French” on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Dinner is organized at the initiative of Jaume Tàpies, Chairman of the Board of Relais & Châteaux, and Marc Haeberlin, President of Grandes Tables du Monde.
The dinner will take place in Versailles’ Gallery of Battles. The meal will follow a tour of the palace’s famed Hall of Mirrors and a visit to the exhibition “Thrones in Majesty” in the royal apartments. The event is being staged in partnership with Moët Hennessy and orchestrated by 60 Relais & Chateaux Grands Chefs from all over the world, including Fréderic Anton, Daniel Boulud, Jean-André Charial, Hélène Darroze, Edouard Loubet, Thomas Keller, Kiyomi Mikuni and Michel Troisgros. The meal will be accompanied by vintage wine and champagne. Proceeds from the dinner will be donated to the French Heritage and Gastronomy Mission, the agency behind the UNESCO bid, for the creation of a gastronomic cultural center in Paris.
Still not known what will be on the menu, but I belive it will worth €890 ($1,200). Keep in mind that only 650 guests will have the honor to attend this unique experience. [Relais & Chateaux]
