For more than ten years Diageo has presented special releases called The John Walker. The end has come to this era and the company has released the final expression in its John Walker series of limited edition ‘triple matured’ blended Scotch whiskies, the John Walker Last Cask.
As an homage to Johnnie Walker founder John Walker, this Scotch Whisky is named after him and contains only whisky from distilleries that already existed during his lifetime (1805 – 1857). Grain whisky from Cambus, Port Dundas and Cameronbridge and malt whisky from Glen Albyn, Cardhu, Mortlach, Clynelish, Daluaine and Talisker was used for this bottling called Last Cask.

The whiskies are matured with a special triple maturation technique, including a final marrying in a bespoke cask made from 100-year-old oak staves.
However, Johnnie Walker Master Blender Jim Beveridge has said this cask will soon no longer be able to deliver the balance and depth of character to create the John Walker, and he has decided to withdraw it from use after this final cask.
Just 330 bottles of this Scotch are being released, each presented in a hand-blown Baccarat crystal decanter, with a bespoke design by Hand Engraver of Glass to Her Majesty the Queen, Philip Lawson Johnston. It is said images on the bottles are hand drawn, with no two engravings being the same.
The John Walker, Last Cask is bottled at an ABV of 40% and is available in selected markets from August onwards for a price point of close to $3,200 USD.
