Jaquet Droz unveils two new versions of its Grande Seconde Skelet-One and each has a unique way of honoring two very complementary stylistic approaches. The traditional model features a case made of red gold, while the modern version boasts ceramic plasma.
The red gold version is relatively close to the original version launched in 2018, while the plasma ceramic is unique with metallic properties fused with the qualities of ceramic.
Also, while previously the hours and minutes dial had Roman numerals and Arabic numerals for the seconds display, the new versions replace it with applied indices for the hours and minutes and a train track chapter ring with no numerals in the subdial below it.
Except this both watches retain the same case dimensions of 41.5 mm x 12.48 mm along with the overall architecture and the same in-house made Jaquet Droz caliber 2663 SQ movement. The off-centered sapphire dial and oversized seconds display below intersect to form a figure “8” – an aesthetic arrangement at the very core of the identity of Jaquet Droz.
The Grande Seconde Skelet-One in red gold comes with an alligator strap with a novel rubber-like finish and a red gold ardillon buckle. In keeping with its high-tech mood, the plasma ceramic model is fitted with a modern grey textile strap with a steel and plasma ceramic folding clasp. The red gold model retails for CHF 34,600 and the plasma ceramic for CHF 24,300.
