Himalayan mountain range contains some of the highest peaks of our planet, and few can be called more imposing than India’s second highest peak, Nanda Devi…
Located in the heart of the mountain range, the small boutique hotel in Uttarakhand is located 1600 meters above sea level and gives its guests the opportunity to enjoy a truly amazing view. Called The Kumaon, it occupies the highest point of the quiet Kaser Devi neighborhood not far from Almora City. The path that leads you to the hotel itself is as impressive as it is. Designed by Zowa Architects Studios, this hotel celebrates colloquial design and locally sourced materials, offering contemporary comfort and a captivating place to hide from everyday life.
The hotel has three different levels, one containing a magnificent lodge, spa, library and other service spaces, along with ten guest rooms. Still, the main part of the hotel is certainly an incredible dining area from which you can enjoy incredible views of the valley and countryside, along with views of the world’s most impressive mountain range. When the night finally falls, you will have the opportunity to enjoy an amazing view of the clear sky with millions of stars, such as you cannot experience anywhere in urban areas.
As for the material, bamboo was used primarily to build the resort, along with local bricks and concrete that give it a rustic look. Pine and granite represent the final details that make the resort a perfect match for its magical setting.
In addition, all the structures that make up this hotel have rainwater harvesting systems, while the hotel staff takes care of planting seasonal crops on the terraced sections, which it also uses in its restaurant.
