Serendipity Foot Long Haute Dog – Most Expensive Hot Dog in the World
I’m not sure how legit the Guinness World Record thing is anymore, but $69 does sound pretty cheap for the World’s Most Expensive Hotdog. I mean, even I can afford that. The New York City landmark restaurant, Serendipity 3 has created the world’s most expensive hot dog dubbed The Serendipity Foot-Long Haute Dog which will sell for $69.
Months after its creation, Serendipity 3, the city’s first coffee house boutique and a favorite tourist destination in Manhattan, has now put the luxurious ‘haute’ dog on their menu for the deep-pocketed, hot dog aficionado. It definitely will be the most delicious hot dog ever, Serendipity 3 publicist Joe Calderone shared. And the most opulent. Owner Stephen Bruce and Serendipity’s chef are responsible for the recipe.
The foot-long hot dog (30 cm), made from pure beef, is grilled in white truffle oil and placed in an admittedly delightful-looking pretzel bun imported from Germany. Then, the thing is topped with medallions of duck foie gras, black truffles and caramelized Vidalia onions, before being served in a shiny hotdog plate with heirloom tomato ketchup and Dijon mustard on the side.
The Haute Dog is now a regular part of the menu, though orders will need to be placed 24 hours in advance to allow time for the special ingredients to be flown in fresh.
It’s not the first time the coffee shop has created a record-breaking dish. They also hold the title for the World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae and the World’s Largest Hot Chocolate. [Luxuo]
