Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Ahyan, a member of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family, has lots of money to spend and spend it he does, with a penchant. The sheikh has scrawled his name in sand on Futaisi island he owns with letters so big they can be seen from space.
The letters were crafted by a crew who worked for weeks to create them. The HAMAD inscription measures half a mile high and two miles long, and the letters are dug so deep that they form waterways. The ruler’s name is even visible on Google’s map service.
The mega-rich sheikh, 63, a member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi in the oil-rich United Arab Emirates, boasts a $22 Billionfortune that is second only to the Saudi king’s. Hamad, also known as the ‘Rainbow Sheikh’, have some 200 cars including seven Mercedes 500 SELs painted in different colours of the rainbow which he stores in a giant pyramid.
