More than 950 belongings from Elizabeth Taylor’s special jewelry collection and worth thousands of pound, will be sold exclusively at Christie’s first ever online-only auction from December 13 through 16. Out of the more than 2,000 pieces that Christie’s will sell, this exclusive collections from high-end designer brands like Hermès, Chanel, Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Tiziani, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent will be offered online in the categories of fine and costume jewelry, designer fashion and accessories, and decorative arts and objects online.
This is a collection of the highest caliber, from Elizabeth Taylor’s magnificent collection of one-of-a-kind historic jewels, to her haute couture and ready-to-wear fashions, and her exceptional collection of fine and decorative arts, said Marc Porter, chairman and president of Christie’s Americas.
Prices range from £62 ($100) for a pair of the star’s Chanel earrings to a whopping £6,300 ($10,000) for a diamond and 18-carat white gold necklace with 126 circular cut diamonds. Digital media director Michael O’Neal said: The Elizabeth Taylor collection is so vast that it led us to think up solutions of how best to sell it outside of the physical auction.
Christie’s is dedicating its entire gallery space in New York for the exhibition and sale of Elizabeth Taylor’s most cherished possessions which will be held from December 3 – 17.
