In Antalya, on the Turkish Riviera, Vicem has recently opened another plant for its Vision line. One of the beauties being churned out from this boat yard is a slick 46-metre Frank Mulder designed super yacht. In order to achieve speeds above 25 knots and a draft less than of 7’-6” a cored fiberglass composite construction technique is utilized (sandwich construction).
The 46M is the boatyard first designed by someone outside the Vicem Design Team. Mulder Design, of Benschop, The Netherlands, designer of Octopussy, Moonraker, and Once is Not Enough was challenged by Vicem to produce a state of the art design that could showcase Vicem’s legendary craftsmanship. The interior design, by Art-Line Studios (award-winning interior designers for Heesen, Feadship, Moonen and Lurssen) will bring a new definition to the word luxury.
Composite materials, applied with resin infusion and sandwich techniques, were chosen to achieve the best possible strength-to-weight ratios. The result: a 200 ton yacht, powered by twin 3650 HP MTU engines, that delivers 28 knots top speed and efficient ocean-crossing range at reduced speed.
The well thought-out layout features a main deck master stateroom, a full beam VIP stateroom, two queen bed staterooms, and two twin bed staterooms. There’s also a double bed Captain’s cabin behind the wheelhouse and three crew cabins forward. Every cabin and stateroom is equipped with an ensuite head. The yacht will have a very pleasing profile because no tenders are visible. The floorplan for this model is pretty well set but Vicem will be happy to build you a bespoke version from scratch once this one leaves the yard.
The under construction beauty has been listed for sale on JamesList at $27 million with a delivery date of 2011.
