For the geeky skier who can effortlessly ski like a pro, Recon Instruments, a Canadian company, is in the midst of designing Ski Goggles which will feature a 15mm diagonal micro display inside of the lens to provide you with all that you want to know about your performance including, real-time speed, jump hang-time, vertical gain/loss, altitude, temperature, and will even include a stopwatch and GPS capability to guide you on the slopes.
The device is expected to tap into your cellphone, and if said phone has a GPS chip within, you’ll be able to see where you’re at, where your fellow snow bunnies are and where you’re headed. The goggle will weigh 120 grams, and it will come in two varieties. Both will feature Recon’s technology, but the difference will be in the quality of the lens and resolution of the picture, which is to be determined. The Recon goggles will be available next year for between $350 and $450.
