Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France officialy got the name in 1956, when a Ferrari 250 GT berlinetta won the Tour de France and the legend was born. One of this stunning model, the rarest of its kind, 1956 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta Tour de France, chassis 0585 GT will be offered by RM Auctions on its highly anticipated Monterey sale, August 17–18 in California, along with many more rare and vintage cars.
The “prototypes” for the Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France series appeared in 1954-55 on Ferrari 250 GT competiziones that had aluminum bodywork, plexiglass side windows, and other race-oriented features. Since 1956, Scaglietti was in charge for the body construction, but until then, it was Pinin Farina. The Ferrari 250 GT Tour de Frances made during ’56 and ’57 had a more tapered nose, a new tail, and a louvered sail panel. They are often called “Fourteen Louver” cars for the number of slats. This one to be auctioned , red with blue and white stripe exterior with stunning Scaglietti coachwork, 1956 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta ‘Tour de France’, chassis 0585 GT, was the very first 14-louver Tour de France built of a total of nine units. Based on Pininfarina design 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Tour de France edition is powered by a 3.0L V12 generating 240 PS (237 hp) power. Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Tour de France editions were sold from 1956 to 1959 for GT races.
