A rich collection of almost 1,100 items including some of most recognizable costumes, artworks, props and posters from some of the biggest blockbusters of all time will be available at the Hollywood ‘Treasure from the Vaults’ auction on July 28. All truly collectors will have a chance to grab some of the infamous and sought-after costumes, such as the original 1978 Superman outfit worn by Christopher Reeve, Michael Keaton’s 1989 Batman costume or the hairy mask of Peter Mayhew’s Chewbacca.
The most notable costume at the upcoming auction will definitely be the Supermen outfit, originally worn by Christopher Reeve in the 1978 film ‘Superman: The Movie’, with its expected price of $60,000 to $80,000! Likewise interesting and recognizable Michael Keaton’s 1989 Batman costume with its rubber bodysuit, cape and cowl will be auctioned for an expected price of $30,000 to $50,000.
The well known, hairy Chewbacca mask from ‘Star Wars‘ will encounter great interest with its expected price of $60,000 to $80,000. Maybe something cheaper in the start, but also many time seen, Jim Carrey’s costume as The Riddler in the 1995 film ‘Batman Forever’ will be offered for $20,000to $30,000. Expected to go for the same price are Iam McKellen’s Magneto costume from ‘X-Men’, as well as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine claws from the same movie.
Russell Crowe’s chest armour from the movie ‘Gladiator’ will be auctioned for $15,000 to $20,000. Even, Gene Wilder’s very purple suit as Willy Wonka will be the part of upcoming auction in Los Angeles, California. [Profiles in History]
