Porsche is expanding the 991-series family with the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S models, that will be available for the coupe and the cabriolet versions, and will be unveiled at the Paris motor show, running September 29 to October 14.
Both models will be fitted with Porsche’s latest rear-biased all-wheel drive system and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system, and as standard they come with 7-speed manual gearbox. Compared to their two-wheel drive relatives, these models have 22mm wider rear wheel on each side, and 10mm wider tyres.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is powered by a flat-six 3.4-liter engine that produces 350 hp (257 kW / 354 PS) which is enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in 4.5 seconds (4.7 seconds for the cabriolet) and a maximum speed of 177 mph (175 mph for the cabriolet). The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S comes with a flat-six 3.8-liter unit with 400 hp (294 kW / 405 PS) that propels the car to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds (0.2 seconds more for the cabrio) and a top speed of 186 mph (184 mph for the cabrio).
The new all-wheel drive models replace a very successful previous generation, of which a total of about 24,000 units have been sold since 2008 worldwide. The delivery of this new 2013 models starts early next year! Prices start from $123,500 for the Carrera 4 Coupe, followed by the Carrera 4 Cabriolet at $137,200, the Carrera 4S Coupe at $139,500 and the Carrera 4S Cabriolet at $153,000.
