The consignor was meticulous in his newsstand selection and preserved the books carefully over the ensuing decades, as you’ll see if you look at his auction listings! Bob told us about collecting those historic comics: “All of the comics were purchased at their original date of issue. I remember riding my bicycle to Furtek’s Supermarket each month, somehow coming up with the money so as not to miss an issue, in most cases reading it once or twice, and carefully preserving the books until this day.” [Heritage Auctions]
