After several years of development and efforts to connect the modern Jaquet Droz with that of the past, renowned Swiss watchmaker since 1738, has finally revealed new automata-based minute repeater watch called The Bird Repeater. Jaquet Droz Bird Repeater Watch is truly artwork, that will be available in only 16 pieces, 8 in grey gold set with diamonds and the other 8 in red gold.
Inspired by 18th century, when bird automatons were very common, this stunning features one of haute horlogerie’s most virtuoso complications a minute repeater automaton in combination with an automata of birds feeding three chicks, of which one comes out of an egg, while the waterfall done on a rotating disc which spins to create the illusion of falling water.The birds and nest are hand-engraved and painted individually.
Inside 47mm wide and 18.4 mm thick case is a 508 piece in-house Jaquet Droz hand-wound mechanical Caliber RMA88 movement with 69 jewels and 48 hour power reserve. The Bird Repeater watch comes on black aligator leather strap and with the cool price tag of $472,500 for the 18k rose gold version and $493,500 for the 18k white gold with diamonds version.
