Usefulness of intelectual sports are not called into question, but does some of them really worth £20,000 ($31.750)? Mind Sports obviously thinks it worth, due designing a high-tech Scrabble set that cost more than £20,000 to create. Participants of this year’s Prague Mind Sports Festival, (December 1 – 4) will have a chance to play, or take a look on this world’s most expensive and most advanced Scrabble board.
What is so special with this scrabble board is that it utilizes custom-built RFIDs to read the entire Scrabble board almost instantaneously (974 milliseconds), transmitting the information via software to viewers online. All interested observers can watch the Scrabble gameplay complete with HD video of the players in action live on the Mind Sports Web site as the tournaments unfold.
“Our goal was to help bring popular Scrabble tournaments to life, whilst reaching a wider audience by capturing tournament play in a technologically advanced and engaging manner,” explains Dave Brannan, CEO, Mind Sports and Living it Loving it Ltd.
“This allows us to broadcast Scrabble in all its glory, interacting with viewers that share a passion for this iconic game and mind sports as a whole across the world.”
This high-tech Scrabble set consists of nine RFID circuit boards that house 225 RFID antennas, which read each individual Scrabble square. Each Scrabble tile contains a RFID tag embedded within to (100 in total) ensure complete accuracy during the broadcast.
Beside Scrabble player, Prague Mind Sports Festival will host Bridge, Backgammon, Poker, Risk and even the global E-sports players.
