Colorful selection of superb jewelry will be offered at Christie’s first jewelry auction of the spring season. Almost 300 jewels, including top-quality colored and colorless diamonds, rare gemstones, natural pearls and a great selection of signed vintage creations from the best houses go under the hammer in New York on April 16 at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction.
The highlight of the upcoming auction will definitely be The Princie Diamond, an historic cushion-cut fancy intense pink diamond, weighing approximately 34.65 carats. It carries a fabulous provenance (India, particularly from the Golconda region), accompanied by a supplemental letter from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the diamond is fancy intense pink, natural color, VS2 clarity, and it has been determined to be a Type IIa diamond.
The Princie Diamond
Other notable pieces of jewelry include an Emerald and Diamond Necklace by Harry Winston, estimated $800,000 – $1,200,000. Designed as a graduated double row of rectangular-cut emeralds, extending a pear and circular-cut diamond fringe, joined by circular and pear-shaped diamond clusters to the circular-cut diamond double row backchain, mounted in platinum, 1955, 14 ins.
A Diamond Ring by Harry Winston, estimated $2,500,000 – $3,500,000. Set with a marquise-cut diamond, weighing approximately 23.30 carats, flanked on either side by a tapered baguette-cut diamond, mounted in platinum, accompanied by a working diagram indicating that the clarity may be potentially internally flawless.
A Diamond Ring, estimated at $3,000,000 – $4,000,000. Set with a rectangular-cut diamond, weighing approximately 30.32 carats, flanked on either side by a tapered baguette-cut diamond, mounted in platinum, accompanied by a supplemental letter stating that the diamond has been determined to be a Type IIa diamond.
