One more Star Trek inspired product. This time you can literally taste the future, since StarTrek.com, the official website of the beloved series, posted on Wednesday that bottles of Star Trek wine, are currently available for pre-sale. The three limited-run wines (only 1701 cases being made) were launched by CBS in cooperation with Connecticut-based wine wholesale/import company Votto Vines to commemorate the show-turned-movie-franchise’s 50th anniversary.
You can choose between “The City on the Edge of Forever,” “The Trouble with Tribbles” and “Mirror, Mirror”. Each label on the bottle designed by artist Juan Ortiz refers to “three of the most beloved episodes of all time,” starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
And like the bridge of the Enterprise itself, the beverage is a multi-species mix of grape varietals, blending merlot, sangiovese, cabernet franc, dolcetto, tinta cao and tempranillo. Star Trek wine is available for pre-order at Vinport, priced at $24.99 per bottle, or $285 for the case. You can expect to enjoy this medium-bodied, easy drinking red wine that is full of depth and character at the beginning of August.
