When you’re founder of the most popular energy drink in the world, you can pay $1.7 million for new water toy. Dietrich Mateschitz, the Austrian billionaire who founded the Red Bull just bought extreme submarine – the DeepFlight Super Falcon. And if you wonder why this submarine is so special – it’s custom made, designed at Mateschitz’s private Fiji resort and features hand-picked and advanced technologies.
According to designer Hawkes Ocean Technologies: “Its movable wings provide negative lift and allow the craft to move in three dimensions like an underwater airplane.” “Put the nose down, and yee-ha–you’re flying.” The Super Falcon represents the pinnacle of manned submersible technology. With its low frontal area and lightweight proprietary pressure hull, it is designed around the pilot. Flying the Super Falcon is a radically different experience, connecting you to the blue space around you like never before.
Mateschitz owns Laucala Island, off Fiji, which he bought from the Forbes family for £7 million. The guests at his posh resort can enjoy the DeepFlight Super Falcon, but of course not for free. For two-hours ride, they have to pay $1,700.
