Bang & Olufsen started this year with its Beolab 15 & 16 systems, and finished it with a new range of luxury wireless speakers. New trio of BeoLab models – BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18 and BeoLab 19 boasts their own distinctive design and function. The BeoLab 17 has a unique, useful shape so can work as a standalone unit and is essentially a bookshelf speaker. Behind the speaker cover, which is removable and comes in ta choice of blue, black and white, is a custom two-way 6″ midrange driver and 3/4-inch tweeter resting on top of a pair of 160-watt amplifiers. Its price is ($3,990).
The BeoLab 18 is an update on brand’s iconic BeoLab 8000 – a tall, slender and striking speaker. It is the flagship product of the new range and features a front panel made up of 21 wooden “lamellas” and comes in a choice of black, white or solid oak. It also boasts B&O’s Acoustic Lenstechnology, commonly used in vehicles. Driver compliment involves two 4-inch midwoofers and a 3/4-inch tweeter powered by the same duo of 160-watt internal amplifiers. Its price is $6,590.
Finally, the BeoLab 19, a geometrically designed subwoofer comes with a pair of 8inch drivers, each with its own chamber and 160-watt amp placed back-to-back. The amps are also placed back to back — a configuration designed to minimize interference and phase. Its price is $3,395. All of the three speakers follow the WiSA standard, ensuring compatibility with any other certified device.
