Latest collaboration between Adidas and award-winning Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, resulted in the adizero F50 soccer – probably the ugliest pair you’ve ever seen. The front of the boots display a pair of imperial lion-dogs who, in ancient times, who were believed to guard the throne of the Japanese emperors. Robotic elements from the country’s modern sci-fi culture are also featured on the back of the pair.
Yohji Yamamoto explained: “My inspiration is a mixture of ancient traditions and modern sci-fi from Japanese culture. I hope the inspiration of the boot harmonises the players and gives them extra confidence to express themselves without any fear. People should feel free to express themselves. Just follow your own instinct.”
You can see this vibrant Adidas boots on the feet of Gyasi Zardes of LA Galaxy, Jonny Steele of New York Red Bulls, Lucas Moura of Paris Saint-Germainand Naohiro Ishikawa of FC Tokyo.
The ultra lightweight boot weighs in at a paltry 165g, with a special placement for adidas’s miCoach system. Limited to only 2,000 pairs (fortunately), the“Yohji Yamamoto adizero F50″ boots are available in Adidas stores, priced at €300 ($415) per pair.
