Although just came out with new album last week, Beyoncé also announced her plans to release a new fragrance thereabout for Valentine’s Day nex year. Titled “Rise“, new feminist fragrance is centered around orchids and is presented in a luxe gold bottle, designed by Ken Hirst. The scent is reportedly inspired by her favorite Maya Angelou poem — which is likely “Still I Rise, ” especially the part that goes:
“Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?”
“The fragrance concept is a about female empowerment and finding the inner strength that makes women so beautiful. [Beyoncé] has done a lot of fruity florals. She’s done gourmands. Pulse was this electric citrus-y floral. This is sexy and sophisticated. We tested it in multiple countries with excellent results,” says Marsha Brooks, vice president of global marketing for fragrances in Coty Inc.
The scent features the main note of gold symphony orchid, known as “the queen of orchids” – of course – complemented by notes of golden apricot, jasmine, freesia, Italian bergamot, and something called an “iced basil sorbet.” It also features more masculine notes of autumn woods, musk, cashmere again and vetiver extract.
Rise, which will be Beyoncé‘s third fragrance comes in three Eau de Parfum sizes — 0.5 oz, 1.0 oz, and 1.7 oz bottles. She has sold $400 million in fragrances with her first two scents: Pulse and Heat.
