There is a lot of innovations in the automotive industry in recent years. But, Mercedes was the first global automaker to open its own research facility in Silicon Valley. And now 20 years after that, German manufacturer announced development of a smartwatch that allows you to keep an eye on vehicle information. In collaboration with Pebble Technology, Mercedes-Benz launches a new car monitoring smarthwatch which will connect to your car.
The new watch runs the Mercedes’ Digital DriveStyle app and serves as a simultaneous transmitter and receiver of data, so if you’re outside, it will allow you to check basic vehicle information such as fuel level, door-lock status, vehicle location and other information. Also, when you’re in the car, the smartwatch is also able to alert you to potential hazards such as road traffic accidents, road construction and stalled vehicles via vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication. You can also customize Digital DriveStyle features such as hazard reporting, auto-routing, Siri activation, media remote control or traffic conditions.
The prototype of this new technological device will be shown at the upcoming 2014 International CES in Las Vegas, the largest consumer electronics show in the world.
