Historic house in the Chicago suburb Evanston owned by Cusack family sold for $940,000. Built in 1910, the five-bedroom house was the place where actors John and Joan Cusack grew up along with their other three siblings. The house has been owned by the Cusack family for more than 40 years – their parents Nancy and Dick Cusack (an actor and filmmaker who died in 2003) moved in sometime in the late 1960s. Nancy Cusack put the house on the market in June for $990,000 and then cut the asking price to $980,000 in October, and the house went under contract in November.
Aside from being the house where two famous actors spent their childhood, the 3191 square feet residence sits on a 0.28 acre lot at 838 Sheridan Rd. Comprising of five bedrooms and three bathrooms, interiors of the home features beautiful architectural details including hardwood, tiled and carpeted flooring, dark hardwood doors and large glass windows. Outside, the home has a big patch of green and a large backyard spanning more than a quarter acre that serves as a sitting area.
Bonnie Wilson, the listing agent of the property says rooms on all three floors – the living room, the master bedroom, and a top-floor family room – have views of the water. There are also two sunrooms, one off the living room and one off the master bedroom. The house needs updating: the baths, Wilson says, “are probably original,” and the kitchen “they probably did when they moved in.”
