Some of the rarest and world’s most famous sports car will be offered at Bonhams Scottsdale Auction 2014, scheduled for January 16th at the Westin Kierland Resort in Arizona. Exceptional 1951 212 Export Touring Berlinetta is the highlight of the Italy’s most celebrated manufacturer’s offer. Estimated to fetch $3 – $4 million, the car was formerly owned by Augusto Caraceni – family tailors to Enzo Ferrari, Gianni Agnelli, Gary Cooper and Aristotle Onassis, among many others.
It features coachwork by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan – which is responsible for the iconic shape of the Berlinetta, a 2.6 litre V12 engine and a larger wheelbase than the road-designed Inter model. With prominent and documented ownership and competition history, original bodywork and a matching numbers drivetrain, this stunning and rare sports racing car is among the finest early Ferraris in existence.
Other interesting Ferraris which stand out among the world-class selection of 101 motorcars include: rare 2010 599XX – one of just 29 purpose-built Ferrari-spec racers, which was never raced; expertly restored 1966 275 GTB/6C; genuine and fast 1967 330 GTC; and the multiple Ferrari Club of America Platinum Award-winning 1968 330 GTC, to name a few.
