Just in this year Arnold & Son delighted us with many interesting pieces, not to mention earlier. Now, with Baselworld around the corner, British watchmaker unveils the World’s First True Beat Seconds and Chronograph Wristwatch: the Instrument CTB. All new CTB – a world premiere joins Arnold & Son’s Instrument Collection – and, like every other model from Arnold & Son, features an in-house mechanical movement. This line is inspired by the timepieces produced during the second part of John Arnold’s life when he and his son, John Roger, dedicated themselves to the quest for absolute precision (thereby establishing themselves as official suppliers to the Royal Navy).
The magnificent CTB represents the brand’s second chronograph with a diameter of 44mm stainless steel case and with a sapphire display case back that is water-resistant to 30 meters. The aesthetic attraction has been achieved by incorporating a central true beat seconds hand and a central chronograph seconds hand – both on the same axis but with different jumping intervals.
Powering this watch is the in-house A&S7103 calibre, which is an automatic consisting of 31 jewels and beating at a very modern 28,800 vibrations per hour or 4Hz. Power reserve is a very respectable 50 hours. Time is told off the sub-dial at 12 o’clock and there is a 60 minute counter for the chronograph at 6 o’clock. This world’s-first timepiece also offers the efficiency of bi-directional winding thanks to ceramic ball bearings.
New CTB will be offered with black or brown alligator straps. Price in steel will be $27,135.
