Here is the new relationship between Bowers & Wilkins and the Volvo Car Group – Bowers & Wilkins audio system will be in the all-new 2015 Volvo XC90. Volvo’s next-generation XC90 SUV won’t features a most luxurious and innovative interior, but it’ll also offer one of the world’s best automotive audio systems. The result is one of the biggest sounds of 2015. The Bowers & Wilkins system for the XC90 uses bespoke acoustic technology developed over its five decades of pioneering research into loudspeaker design.
The system will feature 19 speakers driven by a highly efficient Class D amplifier for a total of 1,400 Watts power. Of course, sound is about far more than just the high notes. The speakers include Bowers & Wilkins signature yellow Kevlar 100mm midrange drivers, visible but protected by a grille designed for optimum acoustic openness.
Also, there are four 25mm Nautilus tweeters, one in each door, as well as that fifth central tweeter on the dashboard, along with two more tweeters in the rear panel of the roof, 4 cone woofers and an air-ventilated subwoofer that is integrated into the body of the car. Driving the whole thing is that 12 channel class D amplifier with Quantum Logic DSP to clean everything up, along with support for 7.1 playback.
