Porsche 911 Speedster
It’s been a full 16 years since Porsche last built a Speedster. The first was launched in 1953, a two-seater with a shortened windshield, based on the legendary 356. In 1988, Porsche introduced the 911 Speedster, with its characteristic small, steeply raked windshield and double hump behind the driver and passenger. A few years later, for 1993 and ’94, the concept was resurrected with the 964 generation. Now the Speedster is back.
Dubbed the Porsche 911 Speedster, it pays homage to the 356 Speedster, the first model to use this name and will have a production limited to 356 units. The vehicle will make its debut at the upcoming Paris Auto Show.

The new 911 Speedster cuts a classic hunchback profile and 60mm lower windshield. The wide-body stance is the same found on the Carrera 4 and the aforementioned GTS, with which it also shares, along with the similarly retro 911 Sport Classic, its 408-horsepower flat-six engine, driving the rear wheels through the company’s PDK dual-clutch gearbox.
The list of standard tech goodies also includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB). The car also comes with an enhanced rollover protection system. The interior uses a black leather finish and comes with exclusive details, such as decorative designs with checkerboard patterns for the seat center section, as well as special leather side bolsters.
Porsche 911 Speedster
The 911 Speedster is dressed in an exclusive color called Pure Blueand features contrasting elements such as tinted front lights, black headlight rings, black windscreen contour and others. Customers can also order it in Carrera White at no extra charge.
As expected, all this exclusivity and top features come with a price. The Porsche 911 Speedster can be yours starting from €201,682 ($270,000) (including Germany’s 19% VAT). If you think that’s a bit steep, that’s not a problem for Porsche. There will most definitely be many more prospective customers than the 356 examples being made.
