Last night, Barneys New York, the specialty luxury retailer, holiday windows and facade of Madison Avenue were unveiled to display a Baz Dazzled wonderland. The unveiling was in the holiday spirit with director Baz Luhrmann and his wife, costume designer Catherine Martin. Anna Wintour, Hamish Bowles, Michael Avedon, and Victoria Justice are some of the famous guests.
The window celebration included ice skaters, elfs, a marching band and two queens – one solar, one lunar – on the second floor balconies singing an opera version of Madonna’s “Holiday”, while post-window celebration included an intimate dinner for VIP guests at the Central Park Zoo.
“I was at the dress rehearsal on the street last night,” Barneys’ chief executive Mark Lee said before the reveal. “I was left speechless.”
