Piano from the movie “Casablanca” was sold at auction in New York for 3.41 million dollars in crowded hall. Orange piano with Moroccan motifs was the main exhibit offered at the auction house Bonhams among 200 items from the golden age of Hollywood, including 30 related to “Casablanca.” On sale were also the dresses of Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and Rita Hayworth, Clark Gable suit from the movie “Gone with the Wind”, a lion costume from “The Wizard of Oz” (1939) of real fur, which, for two minutes, was sold for 3.07 million dollars. Bonhams auction house also offered a dozens of posters, photos, or signed scenarios.
Piano from “Casablanca” had no starting price, but sales began at $1.6 million, and after three minutes, ended with 3.41 million dollars. The piano is omnipresent in movie from 1942 with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the lead roles.
