To mark the 175 anniversary of its creation, Patek Philippe has created a limited series of seven commemorative watches. One of them stands out among other excellent examples, and it is Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 5175. This masterpiece of horology discovers the music of its time, with “Grande Sonnerie”, “Petite Sonnerie”, and two so far unknown complications, alarm with melody identical to minute repeater and acoustic indication of date.
It will be produced only seven copies, of which the first will be on display at the Patek Philippe museum, while the other six will be on sale. Certainly it can be expected that these six copies will immediately end up in the private safes, and wait to redouble its price. Grand Master Chime is so far the most complicated wristwatch of famous manufactures and certainly one of the most complex in the world. All this tiny parts are packed in 18K pink gold, with housing masterfully decorated with hand-engraved laurel leaves.
No less magnificent is a box in which the watch comes. Made of Makassar ebony and another 17 precious wood species, their meticulous marquetry and gold inserts unmistakably evokes on the gilded halls of Versailles and other Baroque palaces. Price of the Grandmaster Chime is set at 2.5 million Swiss francs($2.53Million).
